With your cylinder rod (A.K.A. piston) in the completely retracted position, check the oil level of your jack or system. Top off to recommended level and try actuating the system or tool again. Extending the actuator and retracting a few times may be needed to purge all air. I can tell you that when the fluid starts coming out, it does so as a result of pressurization of the reservoir tank. When it happens, it will go for 15 – 20 seconds before stopping; about a ½ to a full quart of fluid is lost each time.
When at higher throttle, significant oil comes out of the hydraulic tank cap. Tank level has gone from full to 1/3 after 5 hours run time, although the leak may just have started. Is there a defective check valve or back flow prevention valve that would cause this to happen?
